If you haven't been hiding under a rock for the past year you probably have seen that Trout Spey has been all the rage lately. And why not? For the swung fly enthusiast its a great way to expand our season and broaden our horizons.
With all that rage has come some brand-spanking new two-hand rods, reels and lines focused on the lighter trout game. One new one that I think is really worth mentioning is the Thomas & Thomas DNA TroutSpey.
I must admit that I have been skeptical of really light weight spey rods for a while, have my doubts as to the overall ability of the industry to make a longer, light rod with a crisp enough action to be enjoyable to cast. Well, I can tell you that T&T has done just that.
These rods are indeed crisp, recover fast, and are an absolute blast to cast with both light skagit (Airflo Scout, SA Spey Lite Skagit) and Scandi lines (SA Spey Lite Scandi).
Also of note is the beautiful ultra-slim grip that T&T put on these rods. They feel like "Trout Rods".
With 3 sizes (11'6" 3 & 4 wts, 11'9" 5wt), these seem like a surefire winner.
